So what was his story ? i am not sure but i think his father was a bad father and he hated him so he left home chasing something (not sure what but he told to the little girl that story about little boy ) . anyone can explain more about that story that he told to the little girl ?

shareHis father physically and verbally abused him, calling him names for being gay. Made him marry to make him straight. The marriage failed, and he left home. Then he found Charlie and her mom and he felt safe. They made a family.
shareMr. Church told Charlie a little about his life earlier but it's toward the end when she learns the most. His father was abusive & possibly an alcoholic. Mr. Church wasn't able to find where he belonged until he found Charlie & her mother, the later Charlie & the little girl he tells the story about the Ladybug.
Btw, the Ladybug was Maria, Charlie's mother. The inferred that he is able to thank the LadyBug when he saw her again (ie. at the end of the story). They all had a loving family with extended friends.
