Bravo! Mr. Murphy.
Bravo and nothing less. A must see, nuff said.
shareI cried, I laughed, I enjoyed this movie. Little known Gem! A must see.
shareYour response makes me wish I could go through the board links to light up the hearts on the posts like Twitter does.
💗 This is the best I could do. It's for everyone who enjoyed this film without missing the explosions every 5sec or submachine guns.
Loved it!!
shareYou said it, it's just superb. The whole movie is like a redemption. Eddie Murphy really deserved that chance.
shareto tell you the truth i always thought eddie murphy should leave the comedy alone for awhile and do some drama movies.
sharerdsmon1982,
I agree with you. I always thought a truly dramatic role would garner Mr. Murphy some much deserved critical acclaim.
But, unfortunately I think he's had a tendency to go for the money grabs.
To be quite honest, I think he's been very good in all of his movies. It's just that the actual movies were not very good.
We were on our way to Midnight Mass!
Well, to be fair, he was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Dreamgirls. I also think he would excel in dramatic roles.
So this is Eddie Murphy ?
I never underrated Mr. Murphy but Wow when i watched the movie i never saw Eddie Murphy, i always saw MR church and his acting was so deep in another level , this movie made me cry like a baby .i wasn't expected that .
Yes, truly enjoyable. I was doubtful about the movie after reading about the dying mom, but it was really good. Eddie was great. It was years since the last time I enjoyed one of his characters. If I had him in front of me, I would give him a huge hug! :)
shareAgreed. It's nice to see a movie about people caring for each other instead of people being terrible to each other. All I need to do to see that is turn on the TV.
shareI could not have said it better. Wow! This role was meant for Eddie Murphy. I cannot imagine anybody having the ability to make the character of Mr. Church shine the way he did.
After watching Mr. Church, I wasn't able to imagine Samuel L. Jackson as being able to completely embody this character the way Eddie Murphy did. On the same note, I cannot imagine anybody capable of embodying the role of Danny Roman the way Samuel L. Jackson did in The Negoiator. Equally talented men who were perfectly cast in 2 wonderful films.
The one thing it was nice to find here was others who feel as I do with regards to Eddie Murphy's ability to bring a dramatic role to life in a way that nobody else can do. I truly hope this will be merely the first in more dramatic films for Murphy. He is a multi-range actor & performer. If Eddie Murphy reads anything on IMDB, I hope he reads our responses here. Perhaps it will give him whatever he needs to pursue more dramatic, heart-tugging roles in the future. One can only hope.
Others have said it but it's worth repeating. This film is truly a Gem! Young actress Britt Robertson did an amazing job here too. It was a role with more depth than previous films & tv shows (Life Unexpected, The Secret Circle, Under The Dome, The Longest Ride, etc..). These are worth watching; if nothing else, it is worth seeing for enjoyment as well as watching Britt Robertson grow with each role she plays. Like others, I broke into tears when her mother tries to explain what it's like as a mother protecting & caring for her child when health will take us away sooner than it should. Life with 4 autoimmune diseases, destroyed joints & bone, loss of adequate joint movement, etc... are but a few of the problems I'm fighting to be there when my children need me.
This DEFINITELY Oscar worthy! It's an IMDB 10-Star Film too.
(I only hope the haters of amazing films that have no need for explosions every 5 seconds stay away if they are unable to lay off the cheap shots & see this for the great feel good, well-rounded, & well portrayed film it is.)
