This should have ended after the battle, when we saw the montage of different slaves being hanged.
Why did the director feel the need to then pile up mystical imagery including Nat speaking to his wife as a ghost or whatever, and all that juxtaposition with him as a child, I felt that if anything cheapened the impact the movie was meant to have.
