The soundtrack

There’s a surprising amount of space in between, too. Some of the music’s most inspired moments come when the piano and strings give way to pained silence – and then find their way back. With the dramatic use of space, you’d think Wadley was composing jazz. And there is a bleak, jazzy feel to Wadley’s compositions even in their classic structure. That jazzy feel is never more evident than on the album’s centerpiece, ‘Is It Love’. Co-Written with James Schamus and featuring vocal work from Jane Monheit, the song is a spot on, period specific piece of pop that might’ve made Cole Porter blush. Whether you see the film or not – or seek out Wadley’s heartbreaking compositions on their own – you really should listen to ‘Is It Love’. And we should all hope that Indignation finds that same level of authenticity: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/features/soundtracks-features/soundtrack-listening-indignation/

Thanx for the review of the soundtrack...the music to a drama like this is essential!!
If you have not heard the music to Penny Dreadful.( Showtime series,..3 season, over now..may be picked up by Netfilx..seasons one and two are on Netflix now,,). The music is especially incredible.

The only downside to the overall movie is that the music became intrusive! I love films where the music fits perfectly without being manipulative. This score was high on melodrama...coaching us when something very heartrending was approaching by the crescendo of the music, etc., etc.
