Haha, yes that is pretty funny considering the show's subject!
But it's actually a standard warning that has to be announced before any TV show that contains photos or film of dead indigenous people (in this case, I am presuming that the photo of Fitzgerald's Aboriginal ancestors was an actual historic photo, not just a stage prop) out of respect for the cultural tradition that such images should not be looked at.
I assume it is in reference to the subject matter. The dead people are the characters themselves. In Aboriginal culture, there are strong rules around speaking the name of the dead. If someone dies, another person in the community can never have the same name out of respect. If a person enters a community in which someone deceased had the same name, the living person changes their name.
The photo shown was of actors, as they appeared in Ep 6.
Aboriginals are very connected to their 'spirit ancestors' which is part of their spiritual concept of Dreaming, often referred to as Dreamtime. They talk to their ancestors. They believe that in the beginning the spirit ancestors created the earth, and then turned into rocks, trees, became part of the land. When someone is born, the mother will bury the afterbirth in the land.
The Aboriginal concept of Dreamtime and the afterlife is very complicated and varies across Australia and the Torres Islands. It is quite beautiful. It's not a religion, but a consistent state of being which the Aboriginals incorporate into their daily life, rituals and culture. I feel like I've explained it very badly, probably because I don't really understand the concept myself - I think you have to live Dreamtime to be able to express it, and perhaps our English language is too inadequate.
It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!
