...that they wont spend an entire season just stretching out the movie into a TV sitcom? Spend the first 3-4 episodes covering all the material of the movie - FINE, then transition into new territory not covered in the film but possibly covered in the books. That would work. Anyone who has seen the movie has no motivation to sit through a full season just to see a stretched out version of the movie alone. Would be pointless.
actually if you've read Point of Impact there has to be 5 episodes worth of material before the Bishop takes a Projectile to the Cranium
they could easily break the plot down to 3 Four Episode Arcs 1- Swagger the Sucker 2- Swagger the Target 3- Swagger the Hunter
and from THERE have season two take on the Material of the other Books
Good point. Season 1 is 10 episodes so it could be two 3 episode arcs and one 4 episode arc. Also if you add up the running time of a 10 episode series (43 minutes an episode), it is 430 minutes. 430 minutes is longer than the movie (124 minutes), and I have not read the book but I cam imagine the movie streamlined the book quite a bit in order to cram the events of the book into a 124 minute movie.
My guess is Swagger the Sucker is only going to last one episode though because the assassination scene seems like an obvious stopping point for the first episode. I think the writers could use flashbacks during arc 2 (what you call Swagger the Target) to further expand on events leading up to Swagger being framed.

Imdb shows 12 episodes but that could be a mistake.
This is what Ryan said in an interview
Are you committed to this series, which may go on for years? This is the first time I am signed on for multiple seasons. One of the reasons why Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson wanted to resurrect this character (for TV) is that there are several books written about him. So the movie that Mark did only touched on one book. For brevity’s sake, they couldn’t delve into the intricacies and complexities that we get to explore in this first season.
