...and sniping a cell phone from a guy's hand. man Swagger is some kind of badass to pull off those shots. It's a shame because this has the premise of a good show but keeps getting spoiled by too many silly BS moments.
Also was that the wrestler Randy Orton in Ep 5? Another steroid muncher trying to make it in Hollywood, why not get a real actor for that cameo?
I assume they cast Orton for a fight scene with Swagger, but it got left on the cutting room floor when they decided to have Swagger magically transport to the van loaded with explosives.
BLS is a sniper, and the best the Marines ever had. That's the premise. Why wouldn't he be able to shoot a phone out of someone's hand? I grew up on Westerns and gunslingers shot a gun out of their rival's hand all the time, with no scope or training. Now THAT was a joke. Sort of like shooting while aiming over their shoulder as they escaped on a horse. But I digress.
One must allow oneself to sink in and buy into a story line in order to enjoy a show. It's not like the show didn't go to great lengths to establish BLS's credentials. If you're not enjoying it, why are you watching it?
Randy Orton did a fine job in his role. That he is a wrestler has nothing to do with that. He said in an interview that the show called the WWE to ask who they might cast, since #1 the wrestlers need permission to do outside work #2 the schedule does not allow much flexibility. They got Orton because he had hurt his shoulder and was on medical leave. And I'm glad they did because he handled his role very well.
I assume they asked the WWE because they share the same network and WWE is their lead in show. Won't necessarily track overseas, but I understand American wrestling has an international fan base.
It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it. RIP Roger Ebert
Yeah, shooting a phone out of Johnson's hand is not by any means impossible. Like you said, he was the USMC's top sniper. Also, it wasn't that long of a shot either. He was lying on a wooded knoll right next to the parking lot Johnson's car was parked at. I have actually seen a video of a Police Sniper shooting a small revolver out of the hand of a guy who tried to commit "suicide by cop".
As for the drone? We have to give the show-runners some creative licence. Sure it's a little farfetched, but not impossible. It's not a dokumentary.
Sure quick-scoping that drone is not impossible, but I'm as likely to succeed as the best sniper in the world. It would have to be pure luck, 1 in a million chance pretty much. So unless this takes place in the discworld, where a million to one chances happens 9 out of 10 times, this was just stupid.
For a sniper, it'd be a trick-shot. Sure, he might miss, but they'd have pretty good odds of hitting it. And the sniper in question, according the the show, is the best of the best, so he should be able to make the shot.
lets add its also a fictional tv serie i know its a shocker but they put in alot of crazy stuff because well it is just that fiction and intended for television.
I didn't say I wasn't enjoying it. I am. Its something easy to watch after work when I'm tired. I just wish they wouldn't go overboard with Hollywood-ising because the premise of the show has a lot of potential.
It's called hip shooting (or point shooting), not "quick-scoping." Just wanted to put that out there, to avoid someone getting laughed at when they use that term with any real marksman, military or otherwise. That term was made up by FPS gamers on YouTube.
I'm well aware it's called "hip firing" or shooting from "retention". I just like the term "quick scoping", the FPS player in my finds it amusing. Don't worry about people laughing at you man, you can say whatever you want to.
