Who plays bob Lee swagger the best
I'm torn... but i give it to Ryan I think
shareMe too..More believable
shareNeither Mark Wahlberg nor Ryan Phillipe come close to fitting the character of Bobby Lee Swagger in Stephen Hunter's book series.
Swagger is supposed to be a really smart redneck from Arkansas and physically written for Tommy Lee Jones or Sam Shepard. But they are too old now, of course.
A tall, lanky actor with a ruggedly handsome face would have been ideal. Can't think of one off hand, however. Maybe 6-foot-2 Chris Pratt?
I encourage readers to pick up a copy of Point of Impact to explain season 1 and Time to Hunt to better enjoy season 2. Easy reads and written in an almost conversational style by Hunter. Time to Hunt is best novel in the Swagger series
If there is to be a season 3 I will bet it follows Hunter's also fine novel -- I, Sniper.
We're not talking about faithfulness to the books. Bob Lee Swagger would have to be acted by someone Clint Eastwood's age to be faithful to the books.
Even the movie is dated now. Ryan Phillippe's Bob Lee is a lot more relatable. Part of that is the clever scripts but equally it's Ryan's versatility as an actor.
Kudos to Hunter for providing the source material, but this TV series stands on its own.
It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.
