Season finale. So his rifle.. (SPOILERS)

..didn't work that whole time? He had shaved off 2mm from the firing pin?? So why the hell wouldn't he just say that when he got caught? "Look, I know this looks suspicious, but that rifle you think I killed him with doesn't even work." Seems simple enough. Enjoyable show, but I hate it when writers of TV shows are either incompetent or think the viewers are retarded.

Did you not perceive the depth of the conspiracy? What makes you think that the genuine rifle would have been produced if he had protested early on?

It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

Because of the similarities with the firing pin of the rifle in both the movie and the TV series I have reason to believe that it was something that came from the book, and wasn't a case of the writers of the TV show being incompetent or thinking that the viewers were retarded.

That being said, the people setting him up as a patsy wouldn't have any reason to believe he, Bob Lee Swagger, would do anything to his rifle like filing down/removing the firing pin, and thus wouldn't check to ensure the rifle would actually fire.

I should really track the book down and give it a read sometime...
