David Dawson(King Alfred) is brilliant in the role.
What a great complex character

Agreed, he's doing a great job!
"Now, who has the key?"
He is doing a great job, but, to be honest, I think it would be better if they didn't show him shirtless.
His body was supposed to be weak and tortured by illnesses, but he was as muscular as a professional athlete.

True! In BC's version of Alfred (in the show/book) he REALLY emphasizes how weak and frail he is....yet he appears to have a athletic type body here. lol

what kind of professional athlete? an archer or professional curler?
shareYes he was excellent in this, he stole the show for me. I knew he'd be good because he's superb in Ripper Street even though his role is relatively small, but he just stepped up a gear for this, awesome.

Duty Now For The Future
Started watching this show for Alexander Dreymon, ended up loving it for David Dawson. He MAKES the show.
shareHe's perfect.
Couldn't imagine a better Alfred.
The one thing I can't beat... Competition.
Totally agree... he has a LOT of charisma and there is a mysterious quality about him.
