Am I the only who finds Uthred's actor annoying and unfit to the role?

Every time he starts with the opening narrative, it makes me skip through it in a haste. It sounds so fake, "overtrying" to sound more epic maybe or like a strong man? And that "Destiny is all" line is probably the cherry on the top.

I like the show, Leofric was an awesome character with an amazingly well-fitting actor, but Uthred... god I want him gone.

From the beginning, Osbert was intuitive and inquisitive yet rebellious, hot tempered and impetuous. His older brother, Uhtred-Son of, died because he displayed the same characteristics at the wrong time with the wrong people. Uhtred-née-Osbert and his father, Uhtred, had a combative relationship. He appeared to be more at home with the Danes who have a higher regard for those qualities in a young boy. He was considered a warrior and thrived with them.

Although King Alfred and Christian Saxons deride him, Alfred is shrewd enough to play him, Osbert-now-Uhtred-Son of, and benefit from his life with the Danes.

Alexander Dreymon, with his boyish and devilish good looks, plays up Uhtred's wit and impulsiveness very well. I like him in the role.

I really like(d) Leofric too. I loved his and The Arseling's moments together.

"He lied about the lies that he lied about"!

There is a definite change in Uthreds accent in the 3rd series, very annoying.

No you find him informative and witty

Hint: the actor doesn't write the opening narrative.

I was trying to figure this out myself. It seems the show made up a new accent just for Uthred's character to reflect on him living in two different worlds.

In the first season the accent wasn't so distracting and the actor seemed well cast in the roll. But the accent is damaging the performance in the later seasons. Maybe the actor has to concentrate too much to keep this made up accent up that it's taking away from his performance. But now his performance comes off as a bit phony.
