Move to BBC1?
I have just seen that the next season of Ripper Street will be on BBC2 could this mean The Last Kingdom going the opposite way?

It was on BBC america last year..but I don't think the BBC has anything to do with it anymore.
shareYou think wrong.
It's a BBC show, Netflix are providing some extra cash.
BBCAmerica may have withdrawn (don't know on that); but the British Broadcasting Corporation is about quite a lot more than that. BBCA are completely irrelevant in a discussion on which British channel will carry the show.

The BBC don't make Ripper Street anymore. The BBC cancelled it after the second series but Amazon have since picked it up.
Amazon agreed to let the BBC continue to show it but only after it's been available for a certain period of time through Amazon's Prime platform.
The fact the latest series has been switched from BBC1 to 2, probably has no bearing on 'The Last Kingdom'. The most likely reason for the switch was probably a further fall in viewing figures. With it being available on Prime for a number of months before it's broadcast on BBC a lot of people would already have seen it through Prime.
'The Last Kingdom' deserves to be on BBC1 and I hope when they come around to showing the second series they will publicize it more than they did the first.
Currently BBC1 are showing on Saturday nights Taboo starring Tom Hardy, this is not your typical Saturday night BBC1 fare as it features scenes with some very intense images. If Taboo can get on to BBC1 then why not The Last Kingdom?
