Can someone clear this up for me?

So, why did Robyn ultimately decide that she didn't want to go back to the house with Simon? And what was the look for that she gave him when she was holding the baby?

I mean, for all she knows, that is his baby too. It's not like she knew what happened when she was passed out, so why would she shut him out like that? I feel like that escalated quickly.

Those are good questions.

Her decision not to return to the house with him seemed sudden and oddly timed. Perhaps it would have made more sense for her to announce she was leaving him after returning from the hospital. From what we're shown, though, the incident at the house prior to her delivery (namely his confrontation with the vengeful competitor) was her breaking point.

I felt that the look she gave him was simply a mix of disgust and displeasure over all the drama and madness he created. She was unaware of the implied rape DVD.

I think she was seeing him for what he was for the first time. Based on her earlier comment of "I don't know who you really are".

After giving birth and being at the hospital she realized she did not want to go home with Simon. She had seen him at his worst and was tired of the lies. So she decided that she had enough.

The look at the end was just her again being done with him. She had already told him she did not want to be with him, and so she was just wanting him to go away.

After she reviewed the files in his desk, she saw that Gordo had some very troubling things on his criminal record, and Simon was so reluctant to tell his wife the truth, that he allowed Robyn to be exposed to Gordo's creepiness.

I think you should probably watch it again. To be honest, it sounds like you missed a lot at the ending.

i think the final straw for robyn was what simon did to danny. she had to accept at that point that her husband had not changed from his teenage years; consequently her feelings for him faded. i think that look was once of sadness and finality because she accepted her marriage was over.

reply

Yes. She had no respect left for him. Was saddened, too, as they finally had the baby they wanted.

reply

I think Roybn gave Simon that look because when Gordon went to visit her in the hospital he had a messed up face and was wearing a sling. She asked if Simon had done that to him and Gordo said he didn't know...Simon just went crazy. Simon told Robyn earlier that Gordo was appreciative and it was over....cut to end scene when Gordo is watching as Simon is breaking down and then walks away and takes his sling off that leads back to when Gordo tells Simon on the phone " See what happens when you
poison other people's minds with ideas". Gordon poisoned Robyn's mind against Simon.

reply

I thought what gordo did was making the truth more than it was because simon did beat gordo up

I think she had discovered that her husband was NOT who she thought he was. This is all about trust. Just like she said after their big showdown "when a liar tells so many lies, eventually you stop being able to believe anything they say" or something to that effect.

She couldn't believe a word that came out of his mouth. Not only was he incredibly deceitful to her, but he was also exposed for being a pretty big piece of sh/t. It's one thing to have done something awful in your youth, but he clearly hadn't changed one bit. He wasn't even remorseful in the least bit either. He totally ruined this man's life, and did nothing but make excuses for himself.

Compile that dissolved trust with the exposure of the nasty things he's done in his past and clearly continues to do, and she was done.

I would like to know someone's thoughts about the wink Robyn gave Simon just before the nurse closed the curtains to the nursery? It was almost playful yet sad. Puzzled about it, I am.

If you give a mouse a cookie...it's gonna want a glass of milk.

reply

I watched this yesterday and, admittedly I may have missed this, but I don't think there was a wink at all. She was staring at him through the glass completely unresponsive with a look that, to me, suggested quite clearly that she had no love for him anymore. Then the nurse closed the curtains.
