I agree. He did a good job portraying this super irritating grown-up bully and at the same time, a desperate husband. I enjoyed his acting on comedies like Horrible Bosses or The Switch, but this gloomy and stressful character he played in The Gift also impressed me. Nicely done Jason! :D

shareThat is amazing acting! I liked George C. Scott, but he made 'Patton' the awful hateful bully come alive and for that brief two hours I hated George C. Scott! Again, that is Jason Bateman's professional craft and skill. Loved his ability. And like the little I know of him as a person.
shareBateman's acting was excellent! I have a close family member who is identical to his character, and the entire movie I was blown away at how bang on Bateman portrayed this character. The manipulation, the gaslighting... it was totally on point. He did a great job!

I was super pleasantly surprised by his acting in this. His portrayal of the ruthless, icy cold and lying Simon was spot on. Let's hope Bateman's career will continue to move forward into non-comedy territory, because he clearly has some skills.

Yes! I was disappointed in the end, but all I thought was, Jason Bateman was awesome in this!
