I have to echo Lakeview Terrace, Se7en, Gone Girl, The Game, and Insomnia.
Other films where there the film takes an approach of (check any that apply):
- antagonist taking the upper hand emotionally, playing closely to the letter of the law
- protagonist must work alongside/close by antagonist for success
- protagonist is an unreliable source of information when trying to unravel plot
- tension provided by antagonist puts multiple protagonists on edge with one-another
- close-quarters tension where antagonist invades protagonist's privacy
- ending provides mystery, controversy, and possible multiple interpretations without need or want of a sequel
... are...
The Uninvited
Side Effects
The Lincoln Lawyer
Fracture
Ransom
Memento
Disturbia
Secret Window
Cold Creek Manor
The Strangers
Shutter Island
Funny Games
The Mist
Not all of these can be coined as thrillers (meaning some are actually straight-up horror), but you might get the gist based on the ones I brought up.
