Nice references to Nazi-propaganda and timetravel films.

shareHello. I stumbled on this movie today while searching through comedy titles on Netflix. I didn't immediately press play, I actually came to imdb first to see what it was about and I found your post.
I thought that your review was interesting, thank you. You were successful, after reading your review I was intrigued enough to watch the movie.
I'm thinking it took some considerable bravery for Oliver Masucci to be entirely in character while mingling with the public as he did in some of those scenes.
As far as comedic aspects go, the scene where he learns to surf the web was hilarious to me, and watching the YouTube set fawn over him was spot on in my opinion.
I don't want to post a bunch of spoilers, so I'll just say that I found the final scenes to be very thought provoking.
I don't often watch foreign (non US) movies, but I am very glad that I watched this one. I have a feeling that I will be thinking about it for a while.
Just some friendly advice but you won't lose by watching more international films from various countries. Only paying attention to what's coming out in your own country is very limiting. It will never show you a mentality other than the American. Broaden your perspectives, watch films from everywhere, that's when you really enrich yourself!
shareIn my defense, I said that I do not often watch foreign films, I didn't say that I never watch them. Clearly I am open to seeing foreign films, if I wasn't I wouldn't have watched Look Who's Back on a whim yesterday.
Part of this is because I don't earn a lot of money, for many years all I have had is local over the air television. There are rarely any foreign films broadcast on over the air television. We do have two Spanish language stations in my city but the only movies they seem to show are big budget American action blockbusters dubbed into Spanish so that's no help towards seeing a foreign film. (They do help me learn some Spanish though, so there's that...)
We do have two theatres in my city that are part of the Landmark Theatre chain and they do show foreign movies occasionally but I swear that at least half of what they show are European movies that seem to all be about a young woman's sexual awakening. Basically, European soft-core porn. I'm not going to shell out $12 for that.
My apartment building did get WiFi recently though so I was able to get one of those TV-Sticks and a subscription to Netflix which has a selection of foreign films available. Also, the library has some foreign movies on DVD, not a lot of them, but some.
So, since you feel that I should see some foreign films I ask you if you would please take the time to recommend some. I don't know what's out there. I have no idea how to separate the good from the garbage.
To help you with what to recommend, nearly all of my favorite movies are smart comedies, I like to laugh and think at the same time when possible. I also like a good political and/or crime thriller. In addition, historically based movies attract me.
This is your chance to guide my adventure into foreign films. If you give me some selections I promise to check some of them out.
Thank you.

Thanks for the thought, I appreciate it, but like I said above, I don't make a lot of money.
I don't own a computer so I can't download stuff like that. My entire Internet access is via my smart phone. I only ended up recently getting the TV stick and the Netflix subscription because my apartment building manager kindly gave me the building office's WiFi password.
I'm currently as hooked up into the 21st century as I'm going to get for a while. Computers might as well cost a million dollars, I cannot afford to own one.
Thanks just the same though.
jimbofinesse, no one should be lecturing you about your film choices.
Watch what you want!
