This Isn't A Comedy...

It pretends to be a comedy until the final act when it reveals itself as a political horror film. It's one of the most unnerving and terrifying films I've ever seen.

But funny!!!!

Yeah, this really surprised me. It started out with some rather predictable, slapstick humor, but it kept getting better, funnier and also darker as time progressed. The final act was truly brilliant and totally unexpected.

it is a comedy. but like any brilliant comedy, not everything is fun and laughs.

take shaun of the dead for example, it IS a comedy. but its also horror, and very violent.
but more than anything, a comedy.

It was funny for about 3/4 of the film then got pretty dumb for the last 1/4.

I watched it most of the way through, feeling that it was treading a very wobbly line between good taste and bad taste. Then I watched the last 20% or so, and I was riveted. Its message was brutally clear.

only if you don't take it as satire. i kept thinking what they'd have done to the writers and actors in the Germany that existed between 1933 and 1945 for making this film.
The ending acts as a warning by showing current problems along with hatred. It's satire with a conscience. and the last two lines (I forget the order) 'We are the people' and Hitler saying chillingly, 'I can work with this...' well--!
