We needed a better explanation for the situation, five years after the event

So we see streets piled up with garbage, abandoned stadiums, etc.

This would occur if there was a full financial meltdown, so why didn't they say that?

Also, I'd like to think that Americans in a time of crisis would have banded together and gotten to work cleaning the place up. Maybe even mention a new government or a new america, something like that would have been cool.

Maybe militias rule each city, and America becomes tribal or something. That would be interesting.

It's already a 3 hours movie. Yes, all those things would be interesting, but running time is at premium here.

Yeah, that had me scratching my head too. I get that losing 50% of your population would be a shock, but I don't think society would just collapse. There would still be baseball teams, trash collection, etc. Especially after 5 years.

I thought it was very melodramatic. You mean to tell me with all we have experienced the we wouldn't recover quickly? Realistically, I would see property becoming cheaper, more emphasis on getting people into meaningful work, incentives for people to have more children, better policed mass immigration and Starks robots filling in at certain points. Also I expected people to hurl abuse at the Avengers for not being able to save the world.

No there wouldn't you have no idea what you are talking about

Why the fuck would people go back to playing baseball when the largest genocide in human history just happened a few years ago?

You think that if a giant comet hit earth and wiped half of humanity out we all just be like "eh, fuck it, let's move on"

To this day people are still bitching about 9/11 and that was just a few thousand deaths. You think that 5 years after the Holocaust that Europe wasn't still severely altered? The holocaust and WW2 altogether resulted in several million deaths

Now imagine 4 BILLION people dying in a single instant. Plus all the additional deaths that go along with that. If a Boeing plane is flying and the pilots get snapped, then everyone on the plane is dying. That is just one example. So the death toll logically would be larger than just half of the population

Entire economies and countries certainly could collapse under these circumstances. I would think that it's not too unrealistic that people aren't going to baseball games
