A good analogy is the actual box office being a "car" speeding along and the reporters are the passengers writing about the incredible speed but then the brakes are applied and the car(box office) slows down but the passengers(reporters) keep moving forward for a moment but eventually fall back in their seats and adjust to the newer, slower speed and proceed to edit their reports.

Terrible, terrible, terrible analogy!
Wouldn't the reporters be reporting on the odometer and the speedometer as the two probable "metrics" and you as a non-reporter would be holding your head out the window and trying to judge what the reporters are doing and thinking, "They're doing it all wrong" because I FEEL a break in the air speed?

The Box Office isn't the car QueenFanUSA, but the road the car is on is, the engine is the Movie and the fans are the fuel which determines how far down the road (The Box office), the car will go.

You keep getting your predictions wrong because you continue to try and lay down in the path of the car on the road hoping and wishing it will stop and you continue to get run over on the way to $357,115,007 which is almost $358 Million. Just like Deadline stated?

Next time you do these projections you should use BillBrown as your GPS. He's doing a much better job at reading the odometer and the speedometer than you are at sticking your head out the window and talking about what the speed FEELS like and ignoring all of the road signs along the way.

So it's agreed and understood then; your analogy is terrible, your attempt at turning the Deadline $358 Million estimation into a referendum on the media's over reliance on their Box office predictions was a bust, BillBrown's predictions are more accurate than your speculations and reportings by multiple millions of dollars, you're still desperately searching for a box office win so you turn to:

Mary Poppins versus Aquaman Domestic Gross?

Both points for those two films that you two are subjectively disputing that have nothing to do with profitability or quality or part of your hobby?

You want to crow that you're Pro-predictions for a Universal film and a Warner/DC film were more accurate than BillBrown's objective-predictions for a Disney film and a Marvel film?

Separately, industry estimates this morning see the opening weekend for Endgame between $356M-$358M, beating Disney’s Sunday AM estimate for the three days of $350M. Sunday, which was always going to be a record outstripping Infinity War‘s $69.2M, looks to be coming in at $90M, -17% from Saturday. Disney will make their numbers official soon.

The ONLY possible thing you could be referring to is Deadlines report that endgame was coming in at 358 M last night....

and The Projections now are 350 to 354 M and WITH EVERY SITE noting the actuals will probably coming in HIGHER!

There are a half of dozen major sites.....and over the weekend EG kept coming in above Projections on every 1 of them

Variety,Beadline,Boxofficemojo,Boxoffice.com,forbes, and many others all projected-

260 to 300 Million on Thurdays and 850 to Maybe 1 Billion for a Global Debut

Then EG broke the MN record, and Projections went up to 300 M+ still 850 to 1 B WW

Then early results came in for friday projecting EG was gonna have a 130 to 140 OD, and all sites started projecting 315 to 330 M and Now 1 Billion WW was being projected based on early overseas results

Then Late Friday came With Projections of a possible 340 to 349 M OW and Maybe a 1.1 Billion Global debut

Then late saturday comes where Every site except Deadline report 350 M+ and 1.2 Billion Global....DL is the only site reporting 358 M(a site you quote every weekend)

you cant just make stuff up...you can make fake thread all you want and Pretend to be happy, but you cant LIE and say say "sites and People" are scrambling to down scale projections....

EG literally came in above projections every step of the way, ON Every single site....

The 1 deadline projection you are quoting is In fact going to turn out right.....you are conveniently leaving out, that all sites are reporting when actual numbers come to tomorrow EG is going to come in Higher....

EG is going to probably come very close to Deadlines 358 M Projection....

The same thing happened With BOTH Avengers and Black Panther which are the only 2 other MCU film to have an A+ cinemascore.....Avengers was projected for 200 M+ and then actuals came in 7 Million higher

Black Panther was projected to make 194 M then actuals were 202 M

Really, a 3-8 million difference in a projection based on incomplete numbers from Saturday and Sunday. A projection based on really the best intentions because this is an unprecedented event, where they have nothing to compare for their guessing, nothing like this has ever happened in the history of Box Office. Currently, a round-number estimate of $350 million is up, holding the place for the exact figure, which will come in soon. That number is reported to be larger than $350 million. Even if it is less than $358 million, it will be what? $355? $354? Even if it's $350 that can only be labeled a "scaleback" by someone desperate to find even a shred of negativity in what has been an unprecedented, glorious win for Disney.
