With a name like yours, you must be a Spider-Man fan, as am I. He's hands down my favorite comic book character, and I was enthralled by Homecoming. It was the first time I felt a Spider-Man film was truly a Spider-Man film. Both Peter and Spidey spoke and acted like the comic come to life. The previous 5 films, some of which were good, all felt like Hollywood hero films where the hero dressed as Spider-Man, but felt utterly unrelated to the book. It captured the spirit of the early Ultimate Spider-Man runs, which is by far the best incarnation of the character, and I've been reading all his comics since the '70s.
The updated Flash was brilliant, I thought. The meathead B.M.O.C. worked in 1964, but Revolori struck me as what a 2018 bully, especially at a magnet school where intelligence is revered, should be. His bullying was something Peter couldn't defend himself against, even with "spider powers," unlike the jock version, who always felt like a fake threat.
I liked Zendaya, too. Like Flash, she felt believable as a modern teen. Mary Jane as the '60s airhead go-go dancer type worked then, but I liked seeing her as a snarky, self-deprecating, intelligent character for a change. And isn't she specifically *not* Mary Jane, btw? I heard that the MJ was just an easter egg type shout out to the comic.
Iron Man 3 is my least favorite MCU film, but I recently re-watched it and realized it is still an enjoyable movie.
Star Wars-- *hated* the prequels. They were barely scripted, and could have been made sooooo much better with intelligent rewrites by credible writers. Agree that Jedi is a not-as-good Empire rehash. But The Force Awakens, to me, is as good as Empire, and a wonderful fresh restart to what was a moribund franchise after those foul prequels.
