My honest review of the movie (spoilers)
Saw Captain Marvel last night even though it's not really necessary to see before Endgame.....
Overall it was ok...
The storyline was pretty lame...the way they showed her backstory in bits and pieces and all was ok but there was just something about the way they did it that made it feel it was thrown together in a hurry...she suddenly shows up out of the blue on Earth, never reaches out to her parents who obviously must be worried sick about her but hey, let's not let mom and dad know I'm alive.
Her friend "Rambeau" (good got that reference was LAME) reacts to Carol's reappearance like a cold sore that showed up after six years on her lip..no emotion, no excitement just...hey...there you are wassup? She should have been seriously flipping her shit crying, screaming, laughing...but nope..just that unemotional reaction that would have made any Vulcan ambassador proud.
Nick Fury played an emasculated man instead of the badass he is in the modern MCU...what's the matter Nick your balls drop off? And losing the eye to a cat? In the comics Nick loses his eye in a grenade blast defending his colleagues, but oh, let's just pussify how he loses his eye in the movies. They could have easily done a reference to the comic version by having Nick push Carol out of the way or Rambeau during a blast and Nick's eye get injured. Biggest dick move ever in the MCU universe the way they treated that incident.
In GOTG Ronin is a ruthless killer hellbent on power...in Captain Marvel he's a little puss that bails when he sees Captain Marvel...the real Ronin would have put up a fight until the death.
Nice shout out to Stan Lee with the opening credits and the bus scene. I did like Jude Law's character for the most part..Annette Benning was so wooden I thought she was Groot in a female costume.
This movie felt rushed to production, and they could have picked a WAY better actress than Brie Larson to play Carol Danvers...at least someone who had more emotional range than a wet sponge.
