Terrible SJW propaganda - hurts the MCU

Yeah let's spend an incredible amount of time, money and effort carefully developing this complex MCU and all of these interesting characters played by amazing actors. Exploring their personalities and their histories and their struggles. Growing with them as they expand their abilities and rise to greater challenges. And now that they face the biggest challenge there is........................ let's rush in some man hating feminazi at the last minute to beat Thanos because we want to virtue signal to the SJW crowd. Such a terrible decision. It's an absolute spit in the face to all the other characters they've been developing for over a decade and a spit in the face to all the viewers who have followed these characters for so long.

How do we know Carol will be the one to beat Thanos? We know she will have a role to play in Endgame, but there is no confirmation that she beats him (or at least does it by herself).

I think people are making the assumption because she’s been described as the most powerful hero in the MCU and because the combined might of all the other heroes couldn’t stop Thanos.

I get the impression Carol will be one of the most powerful heroes, but as is often the case, it will be subjective. For instance, one could argue Dr Strange is more powerful than Thor or vice versa.

That said, being the most powerful hero still does not mean she beats Thanos alone. So far, there's a lot of set up concerning Strange, Stark, Ant Man, and Hulk which implies they will have a large role in getting the Avengers where they need to be to beat Thanos. I would imagine Nebula was kept alive for similar reasons and I'm sure Hawkeye will be important somehow since I doubt the writers would go to the trouble of featuring him in the trailers and turning him into Ronin if there wasn't something important for him to do. We also have Captain America's swan song to get to, so I doubt he won't be given something memorable to do before he leaves the MCU. This all seems to point to a team effort. Even if Carol is the one to deliver the final blow, it's unlikely the rest of the heroes will be sitting on the sidelines with nothing to do.

I believe it's been hinted at in interviews with Kevin Fiege where he stated "Captain Marvel can beat Thanos." That statement could be taken to mean that she's the one to defeat him and a lot of online posters and fans have assumed that's what he meant.
Of course, no being in existence is more powerful than the being who can wield all infinity stones, so unless she defeats him when he's not wearing the gauntlet, I don't see how she defeats him. It's not possible when he's controlling all the stones.

As you said, it would be impossible for her to beat Thanos on her own if he had the Infinity Stones. I imagine a large chunk of the movie will focus on removing the gauntlet or at least undoing its effects (assuming the gauntlet still works as it looks busted at the end of Infinity War and there are theories that he cannot use it any longer). So if Carol does smack Thanos around, I don't expect any Stones to be present.

Also, we should remember the movie is going to be over 3 hours long. Do you think the plot is resolved with "Hey Carol, go punch that guy out"? That would be a short film. There has to be more to the plot.

Totally. I hope she doesn't play a significant role in Endgame. The idea of having ANY outside character swoop in at the last minute to save the day after 10 years of story building is very offensive, forget about piling social politics on top of it. But that's what Marvel does, long before they made movies. They never finish an Event cleanly, they always make sure to lay the foundations of the next epic storyline while they're doing it, so it's always messy and you never get a tight story. They aim to keep you on the hook forever. But this, what they're doing with the agenda, it's gonna get in the way of that.

I don’t even mind her having a significant role but I agree with alanparsons that it would feel wrong if she was the one to beat Thanos after all the others went through at his hands.

Sorry, but if they had made this SAME movie but focused on Mar-Vell instead of Carol, I suspect you'd be cheering for it expanding the MCU.

I agree and have still been trying to wrap my mind around how Kevin Fiege came to this decision, to put an immensely unpopular comics character in the MCU. Haven't they restarted Captain Marvel's comic line 5 times due to poor sales? Doesn't that mean anything? If you're a smart business person, it means you don't keep putting a product out that people don't want and won't buy. SJW nonsense has wrecked comic books and it looks like they are going to wreck the beloved movies too. I'm not seeing Captain Marvel and likely never will, not even via Red Box or online. I vote with my dollars and Captain Nasty (I don't care what 40 something white dudes think) doesn't care about my dollars anyway. Good luck Marvel!
