Secret meaning?

The movie is actually very symbolic... at least for the kind of movie it is. The movie is about two young outcast black men who are searching for their identity beyond the stereotypes imposed by both white and black culture. They don't fit in with whites because they are black, and they don't fit in with other blacks because they are too white. The events of the movie are triggered by the Dresden brothers, who are dark and scary and never talk. They are played very tellingly by Key and Peele in dual roles, representing their reverse alter-egos, their black id, if you will, boogeymen of the black hip-hop culture Key and Peele are both indebted to and existentially afraid of. The Dresden brothers spark off an incident in which a very important kitten is let loose, who by dues ex machina ends up on the doorstep of Peele. The kitten represents white purity. Key and Peele are both very attracted to the kitten, as they are to white culture, but their dark side, which ironically released the kitten in the first place, comes back to haunt them when the kitten disappears, causing them to take a journey into the "black underworld" to retrieve the kitten, where they are forced to confront and symbolically murder their black selves. In the end, Key and Peele turn themselves over to the authorities, proving once and for all that they are pure and white on the inside.

Interesting analysis, I did not think about this until I read your post. I think I might question your analysis of the kitten, Keanu. The kitten is gray in color, and I think this is intentional. People see in Keanu what they want to see. That is why Keanu is so popular with ALL the characters in the film (plus he is cute!). Just my thoughts on this...
