Spoiler Alert. My take on it

Well my own opinion spoiler i suppose.

I think, now that I've seen it to the very very end, is that she is the ghost that the home owner was talking about. What makes me think so is that the guy she stabs never talked about the haunting, he described satanic rituals. Its as if he did know about any ghosts. Then at the very end, the home owner hires another young lady and starts saying the exact same lines as in the beginning. Now if the movie is supposed to be a loop of sorts, I don't think so, but it is possible.

But I certainly think that it was the satanic rituals that made her kill, she even admits it during the last phone call. What I didn't get for sure was what she saw in the room. But more than likely it was Old Scratch himself.

I think the movie was brilliant. The twisted eerie music really got to me. And Lauren A. Carter is wickedly beautiful and mesmerizing psychotic. I hate to make comparisons but I saw some of the young Christina Ricci with a touch of Reese Witherspoon in her. Her facial expressions were fantastic. They really drew the horror up close and personal. She is going to be one to watch.

What I like about this is that the demon makes her think Henry is her abuser and she has to kill him. Using the antichrist cross necklace as some kind of totem. But it wasn't him. We see how she reacts to him and the demon uses her trauma to make her think and do this. I Like that it could be due to both reasons - she is unstable and the house is haunted - the demon needs to find a weakness to make her do it and this is hers. And we see how he does it.

I wondered what she saw too behind the door - maybe just the truth about what she had done? It certainly wasn't something that made her want to go in and take a closer look lol. But if it was hell then she wouldn't have been in such a hurry to kill herself.

I think the reason we don't see behind the door is because it is one of two things:

1) Evidence of some kind of horrific satanic ritual which raised the demon.

2) It was just a room - she is horrified because she realises what she did was of her own volition. That she projected the image of her abuser on some innocent member of the public and murdered him.

It's this one. Furthermore, the "innocent member of the public" wasn't just a random guy, but her former psychiatrist, Dr. Abbott. She references "Doctor Abbott" telling her she was ok. Combine that with the fact that he thinks he recognizes her (likely from several years before when he was her therapist before he rubber stamped her), and the fact that the name on the license changes to James Abbott. She projected the image of Henry Sullivan onto her former doctor and murdered him.

No, I don't think this is correct or even possible. The man's birth date on the license is 1940; the license expires in 1971, so he can't be more than 31. That's a bit young to have been her psychiatric in the past. Also, he says that he grew up nearby, but the license is from Michigan, which is presumably where whatever happened to Darling happened. Why would Abbott lie about his home? In fact, the license info is entirely in Darling's head, including both the names Henry Sullivan and William (?) Abbott. That poor man was just a random guy who triggered her psychosis or possession or whatever it was.
