A Bromance Babadook? Which was Really Kinda Boring!...

I just do not see why this is even labeled a horror movie. The guy was medically ill. I am glad that his friend was a true friend to him but this was not a HORROR .. It is more like a drama!

And I really could have used less of the Seinfeld Kinda all about nothing feel it had going for it.

This was boring. Save it for when you have some chores to do and you need some background noise on the telle.

It's not a bromance, if you're paying attention it shows you they've been friends since they were kids. They are close, lifelong friends. Calling it a "bromance" really cheapens the film and TBH weakens your comment.

Also nothing remotely like Babadook, which was supernatural horror.

Psychological horror. Both movies, this and The Babadook.

Just because this and The Babadook are psychological horror doesn't mean they have ANYTHING in common.

Side Effects and The Invitation are psychological thrillers. Do they have anything in common? No.

You don't consider this horror? An actual plausible scenario with horrifyingly unpredictable behavioral patterns that stem from mental illness doesn't throw any flags out in your mind to label them scary? I thought this movie was extremely well done in a few different areas.

First off, the opening scene does its job perfectly with its intent to immediately get your attention and keep you watching. Second, the small cast makes it much easier for the character building elements (the parts that some others have said are boring/filler). And the biggest part and possibly the most difficult to execute was Wyatt's role. The actor playing him was able to pull it off much better than I had expected. The intent was to keep the audience in doubt as to whether his paranoia had tangible underlying causes or if it was indeed some sort of mental illness; and it did that very well, at least through a decent portion of the film.

Also, people don't seem to like the ending very much. I thought it ended exactly the way it should have.

I have not seen it but even though the reviews are glowing for it (the pro reviews) I get the feeling the film is frustratingly boring.

Thank you for confirming my intuition.

He was MENTALLY ILL. He didn't have anything medically wrong with him as far as we ever see in the movie.

It is a horror movie, but maybe you don't fully understand what horror as a genre actually is.

You are of course free to define it in any way you see fit, but I'd call this a psychological thriller - for me, it has that delicious dose of paranoia that you find in films like The Invitation. At the same time, I found They Look Like People very touching, and also put a smile on my face seeing Christian and Mara when they go out for the day. It reminds me of that playfulness and feeling of being alive when you meet someone you really feel a connection with.
