Enemy, or Take Shelter

Any other suggestions?

reply

Good choices.

I'd also recommend Frailty.

reply

The Double. Similar to Enemy but executed better and more stylistic, IMO.

reply

I liked the double a lot. It's basically the same movie as enemy just a completely different style. Good choice.

reply

That looks good. Added to the watchlist!

reply

Let me know what you think when you watch it. I think it's fantastic.

reply

Just watched frailty and I liked it a lot. Thank you for the recommendation.

It def. fits into the same category as the ones mentioned above.

Great, unique story and fine acting by everyone including the 2 boys.

reply

Darling for sure.

reply

take shelter has the exact same blurb for a description as this movie..
Enemy, do you mean the 2013 or 2015 version...... are EITHER of them any good, they both look terrible at a glance.

reply

Personally, I would consider Enemy (2013) to be a masterpiece and I don't use that word often.

But it is from the same director as Prisoners which you gave a 1. So it might not be for you.

reply

Agreed, Robert.

Before I Go to Sleep
Blue Velvet
The Conversation
Eyes Wide Shut
The Firm
The Game
Gone
Mulholland Dr.
The Sixth Sense

^This guy knows what's up.

That is a great list. Still haven't seen the firm, or blue velvet

reply

Blue Velvet is phenomenal

The Voices is a bit out there but marvelous if you like truly off-beat indie films

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

i liked Enemy alot...

Regression

The Invitation

have similar concepts

Both Enemy and Take Shelter are great films. Other films about paranoia and/or involving broken characters I have enjoyed are:

Pi
Session 9
The Machinist
Shutter Island
Hidden (Caché)
Memento
Fight Club
I Stand Alone (Seul Contre Tous)
Jacob's Ladder
A Scanner Darkly

reply

Having seen all those except "Shutter Island" and "A Scanner Darkly," I give your list a definite thumbs-up. "Caché," "Jacob's Ladder," "Pi," "The Machinist," and "Memento" are all very good (or great) films IMO. 

reply

Agreed. Love Enemy and Take Shelter.

Still need to see Session 9, Cache, I stand alone, and Jacobs Ladder

reply

I did like this, and would include to your list:

Bug (Judd & Shannon)
Fever (Henry Thomas)
The Forgotten (which works well if you view Julianne Moore's character as schizophrenic, otherwise, not so good)
Through a Glass Darkly
Cookers
Black Swan
Donnie Darko
Vanilla Sky
Bunny Lake is Missing
Repulsion
The Babadook
Identity
Spider (Ralph Fiennes)

Movies that challenge the reality of what you're seeing or play through a prism of irrational paranoia are always engaging when done well. There's plenty more out there. Enjoy, for those who've never seen these. 

reply

Nice suggestions. Haven't seen Bug, Fever, through a glass darkly, or bunny lake. I'll add those to my watchlist!
