What's the consensus here? Do people think this is worse than the previous two movies or better than at least one of them?

So far it seems to be the BEST Purge movie even better than Anarchy. Currently has a 68% Fresh rating on RT with a consensus of

It isn't particularly subtle, but The Purge: Election Year's blend of potent jolts and timely themes still add up to a nastily effective diversion.

with Top Critics giving it a 75% albeit with total critics so far being 22. Safe to say though that'll it'll end up on the Red Tomato

Not as good as Anarchy, still LEAGUES better than the first.

Best of the series IMO. More action/general chaos, the political theme (while crude of course) was interesting, entertaining, and timely, and a lot of Frank Grillo being a bad ass. It's not without it's flaws for sure but I felt more satisfied at the end of this film then I did the previous two.
Also the Grillo vs Nazi fight at the end scored it a few extra points of awesomeness.
