The notion that allowing 12 hours a year for the nation to purge it's aggression is just absolute hogwash. Allowing people to be openly aggressive only feeds that emotion more. So doing this would only increase violence and crime and not reduce it.

The movie isnt trying to convince us that Purging is a valid healthy strategy though, its just giving us a alternate reality where somehow people that believe it is a healthy strategy are the ones in power.
But that's selling - you make people think they "need" something they don't. High demand, very limited supply. You create a need. Humanity at its worst.
shareOne of the worst parts of the purge is how the new generation has grown up with thinking its normal and how it almost takes away a bit of their humanity and compassion for others, like those girls from the store.
