To all those asking for crimes other than murder

I've read lots of comments on the boards for all 3 movies about "why is there only murder, and not shoplifting etc".

Well, just imagine, there WILL be murderous people as shown in the movies. Now, would YOU go out on the streets just to steal some stuff, with all those murderers running around? Would you risk losing your life?

If there are murderers out there, this is about everything that is possible to really do anymore. Everything else would be just way too risky. So basically the only crimes that will really be committed, would be murder. There might be a few exceptions maybe, but not that many. The night will belong to the murderers.

Also, keep in mind that in all 3 movies, the purge has been established for at least a few years already. It might have been still different in the first one or two years, but at that point, I guess there would be no point in risking your life for some "minor" crimes...

I would have loved watching "The Purge - Heist", where a bunch of bankrobbers use the chaos of Purge night to break into Fort Knox or somewhere similar, stealing billions of dollars and going scot-free.

I guess the problem will be that, after 12 hours, they sill won't be the legal owners. They don't get jailed for the robbery, break in etc. pp., but for not handing over the money they're possessing illegally.
The theft is one thing, the legal ownership an other.

If they don't get caught and just use the chaos...
