As Diane, Dern smokes constantly in this series. This irritates me, but it also concerns me.
Does Laura Dern really smoke, or is she smoking one of those clove cigarettes or something?
I'm worried about her health.

I don't know if she smokes or not, but I doubt that her health will be jeopardized by smoking for a part in a TV show. Yes, she is a terrible bitch. Never thought that Diane would be like this.

Why does it irritate and concern you? Are you trolling? Smoking certainly isn't good for one's health, but drinking alcohol, eating bad foods, overeating, etc. are all bad for the health, too... it's irrational to be so freaked out by smoking.

It irritates me because I hate when characters smoke because it might encourage some kid to start smoking. And I'm concerned for Laura Dern's health. And I am not freaked out.

To me, yes, you are freaking out when you express concern for a random actor because their role calls for smoking. That's almost Meade Skelton level.

They're probably not real cigarettes. Maybe herbal. In an interview Jane Fonda talked about smoking them in Agnes of God where her character was a chain smoker, and she (Jane Fonda) had quit smoking by then, around the time she had become a fitness guru.

I didn't even think about how much has changed since the first 2 seasons, but you literally couldn't watch twin peaks in the 90s and not smoke! Remember, they all smoked and sarah was the worst chain smoker, just gave you cravings watching. You millennials are so health conscious! The gen-exers were kinda like fuck it, we'll have fun today and die tomorrow. Due to the internet, this has to be the most things have changed from one generation to the next. I mean, i thought it was sweet you were concerned for laura dern. When i saw her smoking i didn't think twice ya know? Anyway, just pondering.

And you are correct, things have changed dramatically. But then everything changes eventually. BTW, I'm not a millennial. I'm a retired Old Skol 20th century type guy. I didn't even have my own PC until 2010.
