That's an hour of my life I'm not getting back.

Lynch basically made a short experimental movie and decided to shove it into an entire episode.

Even worse it's the same short experimental movie he's been trotting out for half a century.

Stop watching then. Game of Bores is returning soon, so you will be happy.

Someone on the internet criticized one episode of a show you like, tough shit. I hope you are ok.

reply

I am fine. Next time I would like to know why you didn't like it though, instead of just saying that it wasn't good.

And I, for one, am fine with that. It was an AMAZING episode, and the nuclear test scene is the best thing I've ever watched on TV, or perhaps ever! Lynch is a genius, and I LOVE this show!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I would think people would tire of Syd Field's screenplay template over and over.

Think of an episode of House MD. Patient presents with a mysterious disease. Lighthearted banter between the doctors... maybe a little romance brews. House fails to solve the problem. More light banter and they work on a secondary case. Main disease worsens. Second solution fails. Patient codes. More light banter as Cuddy warns House not to fuck up. House saves patient.

Now rinse and repeat with the entire network schedule.

Think of the difference between a Beatles song and a jazz improvisational number. Your first reaction might be annoyance that there's no clear distinction between verse chorus verse chorus... but then you just let yourself surrender to it and sometimes something magical happens. I'm not saying you have to like this... I get people's Emperor New Clothes suspicions... but after my initial surprise, I just went with it and really sincerely enjoyed it. It was like watching a Bela Tarr movie for me. A lot of people think he's full of shit too.

This OP doesn't have a real critical analysis of episode 8. He also can't think for himself, since he has to lift the "hour I'm not getting back from my life" comment that has been used over and over again by people who are confused by originality and vision.

pretentious garbage

Confused people like to throw around the word "pretentious" also. Can't they think for themselves? They are always stealing from other confused people, while they try to make it seem as though they are saying something fresh and original.

There's plenty of standard television for your consumption.
