Not knowing much about the health system in Sweden I was confused about the politics and authority behind the attempt to take Rune to an institution. Was it only a money making ruse, or a legitimate practice? Where did the authority to so so come from?
In the book it's explained that Anita had applied for help from the government. They did their investigation and must've realized it would be cheaper to bring him into state custody than give her all of the help she would need. Hope that helps.
shareMost likely, but this is (as many "White shirt" references) more about people misusing power and not about any special authority from the government. Unless clearly mentally ill no such thing could occur.
shareAs in all countries, the state sometimes thinks more about budget concerns than people's well-being in Sweden. But things could not have developed the way it happened in the movie, if Rune's wife was healthy enough to be his carer, he would have been allowed to stay at home.
