I was willing to take out my "what I would've done" thoughts due to these people POSING as tough folk through their "music," now being faced with the REAL way deranged, violent people think (if you can call it that).
He had no way of knowing that the perp was still in the room, comforted by other band members because he "did her" (his words later) out of love for his jilted friend. "Worm" was the calmest-acting person in that group.
Also, the hand-out-the-door ploy was in terms of Anton's fear overriding his sense. He wanted to believe Patrick Stewart was as reasonable and peace-seeking as his words... sort of like people today believing psychotic politicians that they really don't want war. "They" think way differently from normal folk. "They" realize it, but most of "us" can't imagine the full scope of their derangement.
So, though I'd like to think I'd have better ideas, who knows how we'll act under such pressure and risk? Normal folk committed all kinds of atrocities in WWII Germany and more modern conflicts. My Lai, anyone?
