Who are the characters?

I'm really interested in this movie. I don't want any spoilers in regards to who lives and dies, but can anyone give me some brief descriptions of the characters? How many band members and skinheads are there? I hope the band members are likeable. I don't want to sit through a movie where there are no characters to root for.

Well, I can't say much about the characters without spoiling some of the movie... Trust me, it's best to go and see this movie (in a theater, if possible) without knowing too much about it.

With that being said, the band members are all in this pic (except the blonde on the far left):

The plot states the following:

After witnessing a murder, a punk rock band is forced into a vicious fight for survival against a group of maniacal skinheads.

So this isn't really a spoiler, but for the sake of things I'll still tag it anyway in case you want to be oblivious to the whole thing.
The extra, blonde girl on that pic is a friend of the person that was murdered = the event in the movie that sets everything in motion.

So that's the band + her, a total of 5 persons against the skinheads. As for how many skinheads they're up against... hmm. I can't remember that well, but definitely around 10-15, maybe less than 20.

Fine, fine, I'll leave! But first I'm going to bother these peanuts! Hmm? Yes? Hmm? HMM?

They're very, very easy to root for. Granted, I had a lot of friends in bands c. 1976-1986 so I immediately identified with their whole thing, right down to the long trips in the van. But they have a very nice mix of personalities. Really good performances, too.

One thing that folks aren't making clear is that they're not being menaced by an undifferentiated gang. Besides Patrick Stewart there are five or six guys who have important roles and are very distinct characters, and there are even some surprises and revelations involving them. (Folks who cite a higher number are just referring to the guys they have on hand if needed, which stack the numbers against our guys and hence change their strategy.) What the skinheads are trying to do is in fact really interesting and something you try to piece together as the movie goes along. I very much want to see it again to more fully grasp what is actually a reasonably complex story, amazingly so for one that's basically pure thriller once it gets going.

Prepare your minds for a new scale of physical, scientific values, gentlemen.

Well, if you're very interested why not just wait and check it out?

It's best to go into this kind of stuff without knowing much.
