Never normally post but Mickey...

She could be the worst character I've seen in a show. She is the most self involved and narcissistic person. She is a disaster to everyone in her life and then doesn't understand why she gets no sympathy from people. I know she's just a character but I have met girls like this and well, *beep* them.

reply

I agree! The magic show, and the movie song party scenes made me really really dislike her.

reply

I actually was in her corner re: the magic show. Sure, she got too rude and obno with the guys about the coat, but she said told Gus she didn't want to go and he insisted. I'm with her: I don't like magic; to me, it's just irritating. It was a first date; he should have been more accommodating.

I have grown to loathe Gus. I knew a guy in college who wasn't quite as unfortunate looking as Gus, but he wasn't anything to look at, either. But he was super funny and had a great personality, and he always dated gorgeous girls, and eventually married one. I can't figure out what Gus has got going on to attract one beautiful woman after another, apart from the writers' fantasies, because he doesn't even have a good personality. He can't carry on a conversation, he's a walking doormat, and his niceness actually seems manipulative.

reply

That was kind of the point. Did you watch till the end?
She realized that she had problems and took an active step into making a positive change. If she is going to keep at it is another story, seems like she will just fall back into her bad habits as she has done so many times in the past.

reply

I know that's the point, but she became so bad near the end that I didn't feel sorry for her at all. A character should never get so bad that there's nothing redeemable about them.

reply

I'm amazed by all the people that stick up for her and think Gus is the worst person to ever walk the planet.

Gus was okay. Certainly not a Saint, but not that bad of a person. But Mickey was awful. Yet she gets a free pass b/c she's pretty.

reply

Totally agree Titan..she became unbearable, to be fair Gus also became a bit of an ego maniac, very far removed from the introverted nice guy he was in the first few episodes.

reply

She reminds me of a couple of my exes, so quite frankly her character is relatively realistic though more to the extreme end of reality.

Gus equally is quite realistic to the fact that there are many people who see themselves as nice guys out there, to the point at which they are bitter, selfish and so self indulgent, they literally don't notice how much of a dick they can behave like.

To a point, I have had my Gus moments in the past, without sleeping with multiple women in a week, everyone fancying me and nearly having a threesomme with siblings.

Finally the truth be spoken

Gus is worse

reply

Well, perhaps you would be better off if you didn't take it personally. It's not about YOU!

reply

She is the most interesting character on this show. Everyone else is pretty one dimensional.

Mickey's totally self involved but she's also deeply wounded. She doesn't know how to attach herself to people in a safe way. I think she actually did evolve towards the end. She WANTS to get better and stopped lying to herself and the people around her.

reply

If you think she's worse than Gus then there is something seriously wrong with you.

Pride is not the opposite of shame, but its source. True humility is the antidote to shame.

reply

Totally. She has a lot of problems and a lot of faults, but Gus is almost unbearable with little to no redeeming features. I honestly don't know why someone would be FRIENDS with him, let alone date him.

reply

And yet Gus has lots of friends who seem to enjoy his company, and at that party Mickey invited him to, he seemed to get along with people (other than the tattoo guy) and find a way to fit in even though he didn't know ANYONE there. When MIckey showed up later she made an ass of herself with a bunch of people that she was supposedly old friends with.

reply

It's not even debatable which character is worse. It's Mickey by a country mile.

The only thing they have on Gus is that he "cheated" on a girl he wasn't even in a relationship with. A girl that from his POV wasn't really even into him at that point. There is no way Gus leaves her house after the first date thinking it went well and that they'd go out again.

reply

These are all good points, but he did stay at her place to have sexy time even though the date went really bad. He did kind of use Mickey in in that way.

She is worse than Gus. It's not even close.

Look at all the excuses you people make for Mickey.

"She's rude, but it's like not her fault n stuff b/c she's an addict."

"Yeah, she's mean, but she knows it and is trying to change....and she's a drug addict so like leave her alone.............n stuff."

No one makes excuses for Gus b/c Gus doesn't need excuses for his behavior b/c he's not that bad.
