This joke that he said to his 12 year old student is a good example of what an unlikable putz Gus really is.

I felt like they left an opportunity on the table with this joke. Remember how, when Mickey and Gus first met, she relayed that story about hanging out with her math teacher when she was a kid? They went shopping together and stuff? I thought for sure they'd bring it full circle and somehow make a reference to that... (like maybe Gus mutters to himself thinking about it)
