The super secret agents at the DEO agency are sort of stupid. Every time they come up against some aliens they fall into the same routine where they shoot at the bullet proof aliens with... wait for it... regular guns.

Its the current DC show formula. In every single DC show we have at the moment [Gotham,FLash,Arrow,Legends Of Tommorow,Supergirl] law enforcement agencies or intelligence agencies are always shown as punching bags for the villains.
It is something i hate and which i hope they correct. Cause the world kept on spinning long before a guy that shipwrecked in an island decided to dress as Robin Hood and long before a traumatized child decided to go bat.
Not really. Every alien is different and they aren't all necessarily bullet proof. The alien that Kara lets go back to his life as a professor in Truth, Justice, and The American Way didn't seem to have any powers at all. They don't all seem able to fly as the Hellgrammite, Vartox, and the K'Hund all seemed to only getting around by being able to jump huge distances and heights. Vartox seemed to depend on getting around with his tanker truck most of the time.
