CW is a Time Warner channel and Supergirl is a DC character which is also owned by you guessed it Time Warner.

shareThere was the possibility that CBS wouldn't renew it so they decided to move to CW. Then after it was all finalized, someone at CBS said they probably would have renewed it. Too little, too late.
