One thing I don't understand...
SPOILRERRRRRRRRR
Why the mother sacrifices herself at the end?
SPOILRERRRRRRRRR
Why the mother sacrifices herself at the end?
She surmises that she's going to die soon anyways after the ambulance crash; we see her vomiting blood in a scene right after it. Figuratively, you could read it to mean she knows her alcoholism is going to kill her soon anyways. So she figures she can draw out the monster while Lizzie escapes, and the monster, which becomes a symbolism of her alcoholism, does in fact kill her.
If you're looking at the scene literally, it is a bit of a stretch. If she's well enough to get out of the ambulance and go swinging a torch around in the woods, surely she could pull through until help arrives. And she's pretty daft to think that Lizzie could outrun the monster in the night.
First you ask if you can be red, knowing that I'm always red.
