The actress (Ella Ballentine) that played the daughter
I gave this movie a 7/10 for the child actress alone. I haven't seen better acting for a child actress ever since Kirsten Dunst in "Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994)" 7/10, Natalie Portman in "Léon: The Professional (1994)" 8/10, Joel Osment in "The Sixth Sense (1999)" 7/10, Dakota Fanning in "I Am Sam (2001)" 7/10, Elle Fanning in every movie, Chloë Grace Moretz in "Let Me In (2010)" 7/10 and Lina Leandersson in "Let the Right One In (2008)" 10/10.
I get that the movie is a metaphor for the mothers failed relationship with her child. The monster is the mothers' feelings/bad parenting and so in reality the monster is a way of her pouring all of her things that she did wrong with her daughter in the past.
The monster and everyone else in the movie, with the exception of the mother and daughter, do not exist.
This is a good movie for all of you trying to make into film school or trying to make a low budget movie.
