My guess is because Katy Perry went through a break-up with a British person during her tour movie.

Poots is British. Russell Brand dumped Katy Perry during the filming of her concert movie. Popstar is a parody of concert movies in general. It's very likely that all the stuff that happens in Popstar is inspired by something that happened to someone in real life.

ok. but why would her being British matter in terms of Russell Brand being British? I mean she could have been French and like another pop star who dated a French guy. I can understand it being a parody of something that happened in real life which is similar to it but why would the race or ethnicity or nationality have any importance?

the real question is how does she suddenly look so old in this movie? she looked so young in solitary man and that movie was made about 4 years ago. so, how on earth did she age so much in just 4 years? she looked no older than 25 in solitary man and probably looks 20 in it and in this movie she looks about 35. she doesn't look young in it and she doesn't look that good at all in it. she lost so much natural beauty and exotic beauty and so much youthful beauty and cuteness and youthful looks from solitary man to this movie.

dude, that movie was released in 2009, so it was filmed in 2008, almost 8 years ago. She was 19, she is 27 now. What were you expecting? Time does that. She's still cute and looks younger than she is

She barely had anything to do with the movie.

It sucked before she even appeared onscreen.

Imogen Poots had more scenes that ended up getting cut which are on the DVD. One of them was a pretty lengthy scene where Conner visits her on the set of her movie "The Cube Theorem" (parody of "The Maze Runner" and movies of that ilk). He meets her costars Ryan Phillippe and Lily Collins and they talk about how they're all planning to have a big orgy after filming finishes that day. Then Conner gets into a fight with Ashley but still ends up going to the orgy. Video footage gets captured of him getting pegged by Natasha Lyonne (lol) and that leads into another CMZ scene.

I thought all of this was pretty funny; I guess it was pretty extraneous to the main plot though.
