Is this "phase" over?

I am a huge TMNT fan, had the action figures, pjs, vhs tapes, went to see the movies in the 90s in theaters, cartoon, all of the video games, everything... disliked the designs of these new turtles when they came out, but was glad that the filmmakers captured their personalities and 2 movies have been better than NO movies...

Since this one bombed I wonder if the franchise (at least in movie terms) will remain dormant for a couple of years before another reboot or are they going ahead with a third installment? I would actually prefer another sequel to this version since it would probably be released in 2-3 years at most, instead of 5-10 years for another reboot.

Yeah it's done cause if a sequel makes half the money of it's original, no studio is gonna greenlight a third that could feasibly make half the amount of the sequel. It's just not practical. As much as I'd love a third to cap off a neat trilogy, the Turtles won't return to multiplexes for a long time. The majority of fans (including myself) want a live-action reboot returning to rubber suits & animatronics. But that's just not gonna happen. Animatronics are expensive, hard to work with & considered archaic in the industry. I guarantee the inevitable reboot will be all animated and for little kids.

Watched TMNT (2007 animation) - good in design, but the story was one dimensional. No character development for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) - 4/10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is a slight improvement - 6/10. I think this franchise is strictly for kids!

Though predictable as the first one but if you like the acts of Mike, Donna, Leo and Ralph, you would definitely like the movie. Action doesn't involve much of martial arts as the first one but the scale is bigger.

To say that Out of the Shadows was a total flop wouldn't be fair. Even if by a small margin, Out of the Shadows is an improvement over the first film. There are still some major fixes I wish could be made to help improve this franchise which got off to a very rocky start two years ago and is crawling its way to improvement.

Next time, the producers should go for a reboot instead of going for the third installment and making it an unnecessary forced trilogy!
