I am now hating the cop almost as much as I despise Mary Louise. I’ve always felt that her agenda was driven by classism and envy, that is, she resents rich people, and that justice was a secondary concern for her. Now that I see she has been feeding Mary Louise what should be privileged information in a police investigation to help ML take Celeste’s children in a custody battle make my blood boil. Detective Quinlan has NO compunction about making two little boys pawns in her crusade to lay rich folk low. I doubt she has the decency to be ashamed of herself.

I really like this show but I think its weakest point is this cop and the intense investigation around Perry’s death. Even if Bonnie’s push was the cause of death, the act was done to defend others against violence started by Perry. This is a manslaughter case at best and for this detective to investigate it like she is on the trail of Ted Bundy is a bit much. Also the actress is rather wooden and uninteresting compared with the powerhouse of talent in the rest of the cast.

This plotline also reminds me of the overzealous detective in the early seasons of The Affair. Another character that seemed overblown and out of place.
