I'm confused.....
a woman is being beaten to death and another woman saves her by pushing the man down some stairs and somehow the writers turn this into some sort of conspiracy or a criminal case?

I saw the show a while ago, so I could be wrong, but I think it had more to do with protecting each other's secrets
Don't know why they didn't just want to expose the guy as a rapist and wife-beater, sometimes women just prefer to keep those things private. But they lied so that they wouldn't have to justify killing him by telling the police what had been done to them. So they lied together and said his death was an accident
Thank you for the explanation...that makes sense I guess - sarcastically, though - so in other words, to create a reason for a second season, writers come up with the idea to have a group of supposedly highly intelligent women to come up with a lie when the truth would have solved all the problems.
I mean, from what I recall of the final episode, the husband was beating the wife to death.....and it was clearly an incident of self-defense....
Interestingly enough..the Zoe Kravitch character (the one that pushed him) totally agrees with you.
shareHaven't watched this show in a while, but I don't recall being impressed with the writing. Some of the acting wasn't too bad.
