so, who was watching them in the end, you think?
The detective?
Yup, the flick of the lighter was the indicator, methinks!
shareThe cop needs to get a life. Justice was served. These five women are not going to crack. Move on.
shareI, honestly, just think it was added on to keep it from being a completely happy ending. Sometimes stories these days feel like they need some kind of clencher at the last second and this was theirs.
I never read the book though, so perhaps that's how this ended too, but...I don't know if it was entirely necessary here. The beach scene inter cut with the killing was powerful enough.
The scene with them fighing Perry intercut with the waves gave me chills.
shareSo good, I really enjoyed the finale. I still don't really get how it was more homicide than defense, but I'm not an expert on all those statutes so....
But the ending was beautifully edited.
I think that if it was Celeste who pushed him, it would be self-defense. But Bonnie straight up killed the dude. But I'm not sure how these things are classified either (especialy in the US).
Reese Witherspoon is really bringing it with these adaptations. Good on her!
Perry was beating all of them, Bonnie would've been in his fire too if she hadn't gotten a good shove in. She couldn't have been sure pushing him would've resulted in his death. I mean, we could argue back and forth whether that was her intention as she ran up to him, but I wasn't convinced that was her sole intent. I saw her coming to the defense of all of them.
If you hurt or kill someone else because they were going to kill another person, isn't that still defense even if it isn't happening to you? I guess it depends on all the semantics, but the way they portrayed it, to me, it didn't come off as something cold blooded and it kind of goes against how they had portrayed her character up to that point so...I don't know, it was muddied for me. I don't applaud murder happening in any way and don't condone how it went down, but I didn't see it as clear cut.
Ya know what, maybe I just need to watch it again, and it was more obvious than I remember....I certainly don't want it to come off like I'm championing her action.
It's not as clear cut, I agree. But still I think she would've gotten at least charged with something. And I think that Celeste, being a lawyer, maybe wouldn't have lied that he tripped, if there wasn't at least a small possibility of Bonnie going to jail.
The result I don't condone. But I would be lying if I say the action itself wasn't satisfying to me. This whole episode gave me anxiety, and that push was such a great release.
You don't condone it, seriously? I fully condone it! That psychopath needed to die!
shareBonnie didn't "straight up kill him", she only pushed him away from the women. That he ended up getting killed in the process was an accident.

Someone is watching, could be anyone or the general opinion, always wondering was really happened. Their neighbors, friends at the event. It could be an invisible threat, as they had to keep their secret forever, and never let jealousies or anything break their bound.
shareWell, I am just wondering if it ended the same way in the book - was somebody impinging upon their newfound sisterhood?
It's funny because I just finished watching the final episode last night, and I was wondering who it was supposed to be. Then after the credits they show some "making of" type clips where David E. Kelley specifically says it was the detective. So I guess it wasn't supposed to be a mystery.
