There wasn't a whole lot of stuff in the novel that was quintessentially 'Australian', so it could transplant to (presumably) the USA without changing much. Do we know if they are changing the setting? Given the casting and filming location, I assume it's going to be set in America somewhere.
shareSadly, I think so. I say sadly because I'm an Australian and longtime fan of Liane Moriarty, and I think she really captures a certain social demographic here just perfectly. I understand there's similar sorts of people in the USA, but there's just something about the energy that feels very Australian to me (plus they edit Australian novels before publishing them overseas to take out the really obvious cultural references and words, so I'm not sure how the American version of this novel would read). It would have been nice to see this story told with Australian characters, but I'm still looking forward to this adaptation.
