Was Paranormal Activity really a satire on suburbia?

Since a high percentage of Hollywood movies are set in either a big city or the suburbs, I don't really understand or agree with your complaint. Funny that you picked such award winning and highly rated movies to prove your point though 

Finally, Big Little Lies is a TV series and your -Hollywood attacks the suburbs-comment seems to be about movies. So I hope you will clarify your point more 

That said, I was surprised that nobody mentioned...if we're talking about movies: The Burbs with its humorous take on the suburbs or Far From Heaven which is another award winning serious look behind the drapes, so to speak!

Everyone should hate the burbs LOL. I had to live in the burbs for a while once and it was a very strange experience. People are so bored with the completely generic homes styles and chain restaurants they spent allot of time trying to one up the people they lived around.

No, because it's based on a book written by the AMAZING Liane Moriarty. Moriarty lives in Sydney and her novels are based in Sydney. The location was changed for the series to be more marketable to American audiences.

The location doesn't matter anyway. It's a fantastic story despite where it is set.

reply

I think it because they didn't want to make the cast speak in that accent. I'm sure most audiences would prefer if the locations of tv/movies were different and not always in California/NYC
