SPOILER: Madeline's storyline

Why on earth are they making Madeline have an extramarital affair?? In the book she is completely happy with Ed - REALLY not pleased about this change to the storyline! :(

LAST SEEN: The Good Dinosaur (9/10) / The Danish Girl (6/10) / Secret In Their Eyes (8/10)

This makes me not want to bother watching. I hope they cut that storyline. Her story was fine as it was in the book. Are they trying to make her unsympathetic? I saw some article that they were going to make Alice in "What Alice Forgot" a single mom. What on earth? I can understand storylines being condensed or composite characters being used, but don't mess with the main characters and essentials of the story.

That makes no sense. That would completely ruin the whole story line.....

I agree with you. I read an article from the author basically confirming as much IMO. She said they were changing the storylines somewhat and characters. It does make me want to skip it after all.

I think they would destroy the book What Alice Forgot by making her a single mother. WTF!!?

It's indeed true, you can briefly see their sex scene in the trailer at 0:29 when you click on Pause. Santiago Cabrera is only in one episode, as credited by IMDb.

It has become the fashion for movie/TV characters to commit adultery. That's probably not what everyone wants to see, but it is also true that adultery or having love affairs has increased a lot in real life. Thus, many people can relate to those characters. I personally think that the directors shouldn't make drastic changes from the novels..

Just started reading the book yesterday. I can't put it down, so good.

Today in an interview in Variety with Reese Witherspoon and the director we learned that Reese had her character changed because she finds people who are perfect "full of shytt."

So now you now. She optioned the book and coproduced the show, so she could cast herself and change the story.

What an ego.

It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

I agree. And I'm glad to see that my memory isn't that terrible after all. I had no recollection of her having an affair (or being a playwright, either). I read 3 of Mortiarty's books last summer and thought I must be blending them all...
