Ziggy's dad - spoilers

Does anyone think Ziggy's dad is one of the other mothers husbands? From the look of the window shade going up and seeing the ocean, the rape seems to have happened in that town. Which husbands didn't she see yet?

I never considered that, I suppose it could be, but...Monterray isn't the only ritzy place around. I don't know if that's enough of an indicator of it being there that her assault happened.

Where was she before? Santa Cruz? I just assumed it was there, but who knows. The thought of it being someone we already know is very intriguing though and for this type of material, I wouldn't be surprised.

I also think there is still more stuff about Jane we don't know and that her assault was only part of it. We also have the weird thing going on with Ziggy...even if he didn't strangle that girl...Jane's reactions and the subsequent scenes of them imply that this is something she has already been worrying about or dealing with. Initially, before we found out about her rape, I thought maybe it was Ziggy that had accidentally killed the dad or something and that's why they had to flee.

This is a good point too, it totally could be one of those, "I got it from you, dad!" kind of things. The line from Perry's violent outbursts to theirs would be a short one!

It's definitely one of the husbands ;)

I can't imagine that the rape occurred in Monterey. Jane is obsessed with putting the event as far behind her as possible. It seems to have been in her home town, which she left because of the painful memory. If it is one of "the husbands," let's play detective. Who likes to get drunk and get laid? Oh, scratch that; I just described 90 percent of everyone on the planet. OK, then: of the husbands whom Jane has not met, who's the biggest, strongest (able to overcome-Pris-type-strong) AND is out of town, maybe in Monterey , a lot? Celeste's husband, Eric, I mean, Perry.

I thought, if I go along with this theory, that it would be Perry too. Jane described him as pretty much sweet and charming guy until they were alone and then he turned. That's basically how we've seen Perry act too. He's nice until he very much isn't and we already know he likes to get aggressive so...it adds up.

Unless that's too obvious and is a red herring. They did have that line about Ed. What was it? "Underneath every Jimmy Stewart is a Charles Manson." That's a pretty damning statement that would suggest he's capable of rape. Again, as far as we know that's pure speculation, but...he was already threatening violence in the last episode, and he would seem the most unlikely therefore have the biggest impact. I get that the timing is a bit weird because Ziggy and Chloe are the same age, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have knocked up two women at once...if anything that just makes it more hurtful and dramatic (especially because Maddie and Jane are best friends, yikes).

Oh my god, I think I just talked myself into this theory, hahaha! We'll see....

I can see these theories being possible, but I really hope Janes attacker isnt one of the husbands. It would feel too staged, too predictable...also I thought she got out of Santa Cruz to start a new and fresh life,,so that wouldnt add up. We need to see the shoes in every husbands closet!

Lol @ "Eric," I'll always see him that way, too. I actually read the book so I won't spoil it, but I will say his "name" was dropped on last night's ep.

reply

Ahh...the way you said your last message so assuredly had me wondering if you did read the book and already knew for certain.

Now, I kinda wanna go back and rewatch it to try and catch a name. Then again we saw a lot of the husbands last episode anyways so I don't know how much that helps :P

That never occurred to me. If I had to guess, my money'd be on Gordon, Renata's husband.

It'll be interesting, with the whole thing with the kids happening there. And also, I just don't like his face :D

I've read theories that it's Perry, but that seems too obvious to me.
