Bring Back Jake!

I really enjoyed Jake (the Dad) from the Good Witch movies because of his acting like a regular dad and similar to the dad (Bob Duncan)from Good Luck Charlie (not in his appearance or voice, but in his mannerisms and timing).

Jake could be brought back to more Good Witch movies and the new weekly TV series. How? He can be brought back in prequels to the TV series, in Good Witch movies covering the time span of ten years to the present day TV series. Bring back Matthew Knight as the brother, too! Then you have the real downer of knowing that Jake will die in the future.

Bring back Jake to the TV series. Cassie has a vivid dream of her ex husband. As it turns out, Jake has not really died, but was involved in some kind of hit and explosion and the cop who died was presumed to be Jake. Jake suffers amnesia and escaped with his life. One Halloween night, Jake appears at the the Grey House's front door. Or Jake could appear on Christmas Eve, their wedding anniversary.

The doctor can still be part of the cast. There could even be a love triangle between the doctor, Cassie, and Jake, once Jake reappears. I really miss the old cast and I liked Matthew Knight as the brother. The new actor replacing Knight is very good. I'm not a writer, but somehow the TV writers could realistically bring Jake back.

I'm confused by the settings of the movies and series. Grey House is the big, imposing grey stone Georgian style mansiion. But whose house is painted a soft grey with dark green shutters from several of the movies? I know that the town is fictional, but what state is the residence of that town?

I pray they you never get a job writing for this show. Nothing against the actor or the character, but I don't see his absence being a huge loss.

I liked Jake too but the actor has contractual commitments on the successful Heartland show. I know some are upset he's gone, but might want to let it go.

Wikipedia:

"Although set in "Middleton, USA" it was filmed in Hamilton and Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. In the sequel The Good Witch's Charm, the map on the wall in the police station shows Middleton north and west of Chicago, in the vicinity of DuPage County. The names of the suburbs and interstates that are west of Chicago can be clearly seen."

As to the original Brandon (also seen on "My Babysitter Is A Vampire" show) ... not really missing the guy. Some btw think the actress who plays Jake's daughter is pretty babyish. I think she does okay -- she's about 20. The show has her older than that ... doesn't quite pull it off, but I think people exaggerate.

I love Heartland so I'm glad Chris Potter is still on there, but. I find it hard to believe he couldn't find time to do both series. If not then out of respect to fans of the movies, characters and relationships, they should have stuck to doing the movies so Jake could still be in it

I don't know where they film "Heartland," but it's pretty hard for a regular to be on two shows like that. They can seriously cut back his role, maybe, but then the Dr provides new plot potential that helps fill time in the series. And, as shown even by the split on this board, only a subset of the fans here are so upset that they feel "disrespected." Many of the viewers might not even have seen the movies or cared much one way or the other. This includes not liking the rest of the show enough that they rather have a series w/o Jake as compared to a film a year with him playing a role.

I wonder what he gets paid for Heartland and how that compares to what he would get for the Good Witch series.

Lol! Never thought of the Twilight movies. Heartland is filmed in Calgary, Alberta and the new TV series Good Witch is filmed in Montreal, Canada. That's quite a stretch of territory.

Thanks for the correction. I just hope that I'm reviewing the series and the reviews correctly because I don't see a change in the ratings. Oh well? Jake is sorely missed in the Tv series. Episode 2 was pretty awful and seemed to revolve around the doctor more than around Cassie and her family. They would be better off making a spin off to the "Good Witch" with the "Good Doctor" and bring back Jake to the movies. Cassie's and the Good Witch's magic is being diminished, sorry to say.

Not just about Jake, it's the charm of the whole story and the cast of characters from the movies that is missing from the TV show.

I read your other post about keeping Jake in limbo and I absolutely agree. It made no sense to kill Jake off. In the sitcom "Good Luck Charlie" Teddy's boyfriend was brought back several times and appeared in the last episode, a much classier move by the writers.
